IAB condemns the Murder of Journalist Javier Hércules Salinas in Honduras
The International Association of Broadcasting (IAB) strongly condemns the murder of journalist Javier Hércules Salinas, which occurred on June 1 in the department of Copán, Honduras.
The journalist worked for the channel A Todo Noticias (ATN) and had been under protection measures since 2023, after receiving threats and being the victim of a kidnapping.
The IAB urges the Honduran authorities to conduct a thorough, prompt, and transparent investigation to identify and punish those responsible, and to urgently strengthen the national protection mechanism for journalists at risk.
The IAB expresses its solidarity with the family and colleagues of Javier Hércules Salinas, and reaffirms its commitment to the defense of freedom of expression and the safety of journalists throughout the region.
