Exitosa Reunión del Comité Jurídico de AIR en Buenos Aires

Organised and sponsored by our members ARPA and ATA, the AIR Legal Committee met in Buenos Aires on Monday, August 5.

In the presence of the highest authorities, experts and directors of the Entities, an intense day of deliberations and exchanges took place in order to examine in depth transcendental issues such as:

  1. Laws, regulations and asymmetries that challenge broadcasting.
  2. Abusive official control of frequencies - the case of Costa Rica.
  3. IAB's Basis for Legislation on Platforms and New Digital Technologies in Defence of Freedom of Expression and Democracy.
  4. Status report on the WIPO Draft Treaty on Broadcasting Organisations (WIPO document SCCR/45/3).

The conclusions and reflections of the meeting will form part of a special report to be distributed to members.

There was also an update on the various areas of information for IAB members, including the chart on the legal framework for broadcasting in different countries, which since 2015 has been another tool that follows on from IAB's Digitised Document Centre, inaugurated in 1990 under the auspices of UNESCO.
