IAB participated in Consultation Meeting of the IACHR Rapporteurship on Freedom of Expression

Ana María Urrutia de Lara was specially invited as a panelist.

The Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression (RELE) of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), launched the Program on Freedom of Expression and the fight against discrimination and exclusion, which aims to develop preventive tools to adopt voluntary mechanisms, within the editorial autonomy of the media and journalists' organizations.

On May 27, the “First Day of Consultation” was held in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, organized by the Office of the Rapporteur, in partnership with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Guatemala, and the Presidential Commission for Peace and Human Rights (COPADEH) of the Government of Guatemala.

Ana María Urrutia de Lara, President of IAB's Committee on Freedom of Expression, who spoke on different aspects of self-regulation mechanisms, as well as IAB's work for private and free broadcasting in the three Americas.
